About the Chair

The Chair Individual and Technology, iTec for short, at RWTH Aachen University under the direction of Professor Astrid Rosenthal-von der Pütten is affiliated with the Department of Society, Technology, and Human Factors at the Human Technology Center, HumTec for short. Research and teaching focuses on media psychology, human-technology interaction, social robotics, artificially intelligent systems, and media neuroscience.

The chair was founded in 2018 as part of the new interdisciplinary Department of Society, Technology, and Human Factors. Together with our colleagues from the fields of philosophy, computer science, and sociology, we research the interactions between technology and natural sciences, as well as human and society.

The Department and the Human Technology Center are dedicated to reflection, anticipation of the effects of technological developments, and responsible and critical action and innovation, thus making a significant contribution to an integrated interdisciplinary technical university.

The main research areas of the Chair Individual and Technology include topics of human–technology interaction.
